FAVRA - WELCOME TO OUR WEBSITE
The Forum for Advancing Rural Action on AIDS (FAVRA) is a community-based organisation -CBO that was formally registered in the year 2000 in Homa Bay district of Nyanza province in Kenya. It had been operating as a loose community organisation since 1990. The community resource centre is located about 100 metres from the gate of Angiro mixed secondary school, which is 3 kilometres off the Kisumu- Homa Bay road at Olare junction. FAVRA CBO focuses on the orphans and other vulnerable children (OVC’s), young widows and grandparents who are now parenting their grand children in this community. The extended family system here is overwhelming as many children are left without both parents at very early stages and must move to the homes of the next of kin. The community has lagged behind in education due to high school dropout rate as most children are leaving school to take care of their younger brothers and sisters after the death of one or both parents.
Building the capacity of FAVRA CBO to effectively respond to the grassroots community HIV/AIDS challenges, and its socio-economic consequences.
FAVRA has placed alot of efforts on its projects and activities. This helps it achieve its Mission
